Perhaps you, like many people, were taught at an early High Performance Leadership Review age that the wealthy are greedy, selfish, and evil. This could be supported by the story in the Holy Bible where Jesus was approached by a wealthy man who wanted to know what he must do to have eternal life. Jesus told the man to sell everything he owned, give it to the poor, and follow him. The man looked at him in disbelief and turned away. It was clear to Jesus that the man had no intention of following his instructions. Then, using the man as an example, Jesus stated that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. One interpretation of this story is that to strive for wealth and success is unrighteous. But consider another deeper meaning to the story. Another interpretation is that it's not money, but worshiping money that is the evil to be avoided. Consider that you and those you love would be best served if you adopted the belief that we do not live to languish, rather to flourish and enjoy the abundance of life. The following scripture from the Holy Bible may be a source of reassurance as you pursue success and prosperity. There is nothing vague in this scripture. It is clear that God wants you to succeed. I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 Accept that prosperity is not only moral, but it is your obligation to fulfill your potential. It is not a part of the master plan for you to fail. You are here to succeed! And as you succeed, you will be in a position to make a positive contribution to the lives of others. Don't just give yourself permission to succeed in every area of your life, demand it of yourself and know that the more you prosper, the more you are able to help others and offer the world. If you are constantly seeking money, believing it will make you safe and secure, you will never have enough. You will never be safe or secure. If your motivation to succeed is strictly to accumulate money and material wealth or bolster your ego, you will never be truly happy and therefore, never truly prosperous. View money and material wealth as one aspect of success. Consider it a means of benefiting others and becoming free to engage in pursuits that are worthy of your time and attention. Always stay aware of why you are striving to succeed. Be honest with yourself. Is it out of the fear of poverty and not having enough? Is it to boost your self-esteem and flaunt your accomplishments? Or, does great success represent and measure how much you have served others? Does it represent the value you have been graced to offer the world? Today we are going to be talking about the reasons why attitude is a key component to your success. When you have a "poor" attitude or a "negative" outlook on life it is harder for you to see your successes and therefore for you, success always seems just out of reach.
