A fire hazard by definition is a condition that encourages Final Survival Plan E-book Review a fire to start or increases the extent or severity of a fire. Our knowledge of fire elements helps firefighters to better eliminate potential fire hazards by controlling these elements. Fuel hazards include ordinary combustibles, flammable and combustible gases, flammable and combustible liquids, chemicals, dusts, and combustible metals. Heat source hazards include chemical forms, electrical, mechanical, and nuclear. Common hazardous fire conditions include poor housekeeping and improper storage. Other factors like defective or improperly used heating, lighting, or power equipment contribute to fire hazards. Different occupancies present different hazards. Manufacturing, commercial buildings, and private residences all contain fire hazards in one form or another. Pre planning helps firefighters become aware of occupancies and their potential hazards during fire conditions. Target hazards are facilities where there is a great potential likelihood of life or property loss from a fire. These building should receive thorough incident planning and pre planning. Examples of target hazards are lumberyards, oil storage facilities, large shopping centers, and hospitals.
