Follow the tips and get the body you desire. There have been many times along my weight loss journey where I have thought - why couldn't I lose 5 kilo's a week and be done in 10 weeks? Patience has never really been my strong suit. I am an impatient patient from way back! The lap band journey, though, is all about patience. After all, it can take months to get to the correct fill for you and the journey itself is to aim for 2 years to take off 50% of your excess weight (according to the doctors). The Lap Band journey has worked out my patience muscle significantly over the past year. First you have to go through all of the pre-operative procedures, which definitely takes some patience and then after the operation itself, you have to exercise your patience to get through the liquids phase, to get through the mushies phase and then to get through the 'not ideal fill' stage. If that is not enough patience for you, you then need to wait patiently for your weight to come off before you enter the world of maintenance. So what is this thing we call patience? According to Wikipedia, Patience is the state of endurance under difficult circumstances. It is also used to refer to the character trait of being steadfast. To me, patience is all about focusing on what is happening now and not looking too far into the future. It is about being happy with what I have achieved so far and knowing that I am moving toward my larger goals.
